what is XML

XML stands for extensible markup language which is use to store and transport the data.

It is not programming language, it is Markup language like HTMl but it’s functionality is different from HTML, HTML use to display the data whereas XML is use to store and organize the data in our way.

XML is case sensitive.

Purpose of XML

  1. XML is use to store and exchange data over the network.
  2. It behaves like database , but it stores the data in textual format.
  3. It is platform independent
  4. It is also language independent.

XML does not have any predefined tags to represent your data.
